I'm a Meteorologist at a television station. For Read Across America Day, I was asked to read a Dr. Seuss book for a group of elementary school children. While there are plenty of classic options, I found this book and decided to give it a chance. This is probably one of the best $5 investments I've made in my career.In my business, we do a ton of school talks for kids. While I can talk about the science of weather with older students, there's only so much I can do with very young kids. This book does a good job explaining weather information while also being engaging. I received a ton of good feedback and plan to use it a bunch in the future. After posting to social media about it, I've had multiple other friends in the business tell me they've also ordered this book.One caveat, meteorology is filled with big words in general. While I think the book does a good job putting the terms on a child's level, a 2 year old may not appreciate it.
Very well written. I wish I found this when my grandkids were younger. It has a lot of really good information in it. I would start reading it to your kids early around age 3, and continue up til they can read it themselves. I would recommend from age 3 to age seven. If an older child can read it to a younger child, then they will get some benefit from the book without thinking is a little kids book. The reason for starting them early is before they have a fear of the weather. My daughter lost two horses in an thunder and lightning storm two years ago as both were struck at the same time by a bolt of lightning. We now have a couple of grandkids with a tremendious fear of bad weather.This book explains things on a kids level that helps kids to understand weather. Kids cannot control the weather,but this will help them to better understand what weather
Another good book in the Learning Library series. Fun rhymes and a lot of simple facts for a 6 year old. It may be too hard for a 6 year old to read so read it to the child. It's a fun book.
I just received this book that I ordered for my grandson. Love the book- BUT my copy is upside down! When I opened it to read it, the pages are upside down and backward to the cover! I am VERY disappointed about this fact. :(

I don't usually like Dr Seuss books, but I love his one...written by another writer. This gives so much info. on weather in the text of the book....fantastic.

Our grandson always asks about the clouds, rain, thunder storms, wind, lightening, snow, hail etc. It helps explain these things in a simple way for kids to understand.
